On facebook I posted a daily diary of the goings on of each day of Ramadan for 2011. Now that I have this blog, I thought that before I begin to blog each day for Ramadan 2012, I should put up the old ones. So in a sort of countdown to Ramadan 2012 (which begins at the end of July 2012) I will be putting up daily (or more) posts from last years Ramadan Diaries. It was fun writing the entries and people responded well to it.

RAMADAN Day 2: Boy oh boy was it a mistake eating too much of dad’s lamb kebabs, grilled chicken and meat for Iftaar! I was soo stuffed, I couldn’t even eat a proper Suhur. Which meant that I was feeling weak and exhausted from the time I woke up at 9:00am till Iftaar! Subhanallah, the lack of strength I felt was so consuming, that I could barely perform my Salah properly, or do any extra Ibadaat. But come Iftaar time, I ate till I no longer felt any hunger! Alhumdulilah. Its like Allaah says in the Qur’an:

“Verily, in the creation of the heavens and of the earth, and the succession of night and day: and in the ships that speed through the sea with what is useful to man: and in the waters which God sends down from the sky, giving life thereby to the earth after it had, been lifeless, and causing all manner of living creatures to multiply thereon…” 2:164.

I too felt like the barren land which has been denied its food (water), but once I had quenched my thirst and filled my stomach, I came back to life. Subhanallah. We truly do not count the blessings in our lives!

Let us all be mindful of what we have, before its taken from us.

RAMADAN Day 3: Well, how time flies, and food! The fridge was quite empty (even though we’re all fasting…weird right?!), so me and F. Chowdhury popped out and bought so much fruit, we could have opened up our own stall in Green Street. Today we made a better effort at making nice food, but by the Will of Allaah, those who did not appreciate our efforts the previous days and decided to go to someone else house to eat ‘nice food’ missed out on our dishes today. Ha ha haa! Saf1. Chowdhury, you missed out big time! Serves you right, you ungrateful old goat!
